I wonder how I go about to erase diagonally in a straight line. By holding down Shift I can erase horizontally and vertically, but how do I do the same with diagonally?

Eraser Tool--->Configure parameters in the Options Bar and choose size and configure soft/hard setting from the Brushes Palette, if necessary.

Click at beginning of area you want to erase.

Hold the Shift key and click anywhere elseĀ—a straight line erasure will take place from the first point you clicked.

A couple of ways. Click on the starting point with the eraser and Shift-click on the end point. That should erase a straight line from point A to point B.

OR,

Use the Line Tool set to Clear.

OR,

Use the Pen Tool to make a line and Stroke with the Eraser.

I'm sure others can provide a few more.
